Hello Cousin Bobby - Joe Clyde's Boy here
Joe Carroll Doughty. Found recently when
Joseph Sr. sold some land in SC in 1789 -
One of the wit. was a Jeremiah Dutton, who
also went by the name of Doty/Douty/Doughty.
He was about 15 years older than Joseph Sr.
And Joseph Sr's oldest boy was probably our Jeremiah born 1777, which could have been named after this older Jeremiah.
So recon this older Jeremiah
could be the father of our Joseph Sr. ? This
older Jeremiah's wife was named Sarah and
Joseph Sr. had a girl named Sarah. Dont
know why Old Jeremiah was listed in the census as Dutton, and on his land records, But his know kin when they left out of SC for TN, and KT all used the Doty and Doughty spelling. I am in contact with some of his
kin in West TX - Carol Doty. This
Carol Doty's grandfather looks a bit like my grandfather William Thomas Doughty.

The Doty people in TX think that our Joseph Sr probably is a brother, because they think there is only ten years seperating them. I tend to think if we are kin at all it is as
the oldest son. We dont know the actual birthdates for either man.

Also when this Old Jeremiah filed Rev. war claims in SC - They were written out for him using the Dottey spelling.
Joe Doughty
