John DOUGHTY - b. about 1680 ??????
Posted by: B. Doty Date: September 12, 1998 at 20:16:17
  of 1425

In the last 6 months I've gone from only thinking that I knew who my gg grandfather was to having verified my line from my sons through my 7x great grandfather John Doty or Doughty. My grandfathers include Civil War, War of 1812 and Revolutionary War veterans. I've come to a dead end tracking the DOTY name and am now pursuing the DOUGHTY connection. The Doty/Doten book is not definitive on the existance of John.

Here's part of my line:
Starting with my xxxx great grandfather: Frazy b. 6/1/1792 Schoharie, NY m.Martha Mills Mount Vernon, Ohio.

xxxxx g grandfather: Peter b. 1756-1757 Piscataway, NJ m. Susannah Magdelan Boyle, Basking Ridge, NJ.

xxxxxx g grandfather Isaac b. abt. 1712 in probably Piscataway, NJ (???) m. "Miss" Reyno or Reno prob. before 1745 in NJ. Isaac's children were Esther, John, Azariah, Ann, Keziah, Peter(mine), Isaac, Francis, Ephraim and by 2nd wife Henry, Stephen and possibly others.

And now John who I assume is my xxxxxxx g grandfather - b. abt 1680?,m. NY or NJ to Mary Duane or "Miss" Duane having children Isaac(mine), Azariah and probably Samuel and James. The Doty/Doten book refers to John being on Long Island and there is reference to a ship called the Caledonia that he may have traveled on (from England???).

I'm looking for confirmation of John being Isaacs' father even though I'm pretty sure about that, but more-so, who John's father is, where John came from (born here or England, etc). Is he tied to Rev. Francis Doughty in some way?

Thanks!!!
Blayne
