Remember...there is no Stone connection to the line of Francis Doughty......his 1st wife's surname is still unknow. This said, who do you suppose these Dightons in Md were? what generation? Rev. Francis only had 2 sisters, Margaret and Elizabeth, so it couldn't have been in his own generation. He did have 4 uncles (Francis, John, Wm and Robert) ; all born in the 1560-70 time period....making them over 60, if still alive, at the time Francis came to the colonies in 1638...a bit too old to be emigrants, I would figure...and, francis wasn't in Md till many years after ariving in Mass... . So, that sort of takes care of the direct line for a couple generations... also, of interest, this line's name, Doughty, has never been spelled Dighton in any of the parish records, aprentice papers, wills, or "Visitation" records I've ever seen, Without the incorrect Stone link, I see no reason to suppose someone named Dighton is related to someone named Doughty, just because they both lived in Md for a time.
