Martha DOUGHTY b. 1805 in Ohio m. James SEAL abt 1828 (?), they moved to Jasper Co., MO after 1840 and James Seal d. abt 1847-48. Who are her parents? Martha Doughty Seal is found on the 1850 Jasper Co., MO census as living with a Henry MATHEWS, b. 1790 in KY. Are these two families connected? Other Doughty's living in same area are Joseph Doughty b. 1803 in Ohio and living with him is Ann Doughty b. in MD in 1772. Connecting lines are SHOEMAKER, NELSON, MATHEW'S and TUCKERS. Some of these Doughty families moved on to Jefferson Co., KS after the Civil War. Elijah N. Doughty fought in the Civil War on the Union Regiment Eleven, Co., D of Kansas. He was in the same regiment as the son of James Seal, Joseph Doughty Seal, my g.grandfather. Would appreciate any help or information on these families. Zabette.
