My Grandmother was a Dogherty who married a Higgins. She was from Limerick. From what I can gather she was related to Mcdermotts..so the Lord of Innishowen has to be connected somehow. Ryan was either on her side or my grandfather(William Higgins from Dublin)
I wrote a 1600 style folk song about Cahir O'Dogherty. Jody Bill
