I definately recommend a software program for storing your data. It'll help you stay somewhat organized :) I use Brother's Keeper and it's available on the Internet as FREE shareware. I'm very happy with what it offers, it's user friendly and offers different types of reports and family tree outlines. Check it out at and download the program from that location if you want to give it a try.

I also maintain "research" and "document" file folders for each surname I'm researching. This method has worked wonderfully for organizing the many leads and the stacks of notes and paperwork I was accumulating.

Good luck with your research!
