janice, i got your pdf file. comcast has upgraded the email service and my browser is too old to support it. i am going to buy a new computer this weekend. i contacted a researcher at the lincoln library in sangamon county. he could not find john charles dougherty buried in any of the cemetarys. he said the recordings are 100% complete. so where was our john buried. sangamon did not have any death certificates until 1860. there were not obits or probate records of john charles either. i am beginning to wonder if his son john brought his body home to indiana when he and his boys returned to daviess county. or he was just buried in a neighboring county. my frustrated search continues....... jeaneen
