I don't believe I ever responded to you message about John McFate Dougherty. It is quite possible you have located his parents. I know there was a brother by the name of James that was living with them at one time. John McFate Dougherty m. Elizabeth Hopkins in 1865 in Story Co., Iowa, They had quite a large family, 8 children. Their names were Mary A., James William, Miriam Almirea 'Millie', Edgar Clinton, Anna Minerva, John Arthur, Harry LeRoy and Lorenzo M.

I am a great grandson of Edgar. Edgar married Emma Pauline Kent. She died in childbirth in 1900, but they had five boys born before Emma died. The family lived in midwest, South Dakota, Iowa, Nebraska, and Minnesota.

If any of this sounds familiar or you have another link to this family, I would enjoy hearing from you.

Jim Cochrane
