I'm not sure when Michael Dougherty arrived in Canada, but my grandmother, Ellen Dougherty (Doherty) was born before 1870 by around 10-15 years. Michael Dougherty married Margaret Brennan and I don't believe Ellen was their only child. They lived in Saltfleet or Stoney Creek. Ellen Doherty (she changed the spelling in the only letter we have written by her in 1870). Ellen married John McDonagh. They had four children; my mother Ellen Kathleen, Isobel, Margaret (killed in a motor car accident quite young, and Frank. I believe Michael Dougherty is buried in Wildfield Cemetary out of St. Patrick's Church in Hamilton, Ontario.
My mother never mentioned an Uncle Patrick only an Uncle Tony. I hope this helps.
