Dougherty - McEntee, Philadelphia, PA

  of 2100

I am looking for other descendants of my family of McEntee living in Philadelphia, PA, USA, approximately 1880-1890. Patrick McEntee, married to Elizabeth Garrity, children Anna Marie, Edward, Charles, Elizabeth, Stephen, all born during that time. All the children were born in Philadelphia except for the middle child, Elizabeth, who was, for some reason born and baptized in Chicago. This family lived in Epiphany of Our Lord Parish in Philadelphia.

Patrick McEntee was listed in the 1900 census as having been born in Ireland, but he died around 1899 or 1900 while his children were still young. He is buried in Holy Cross Cemetery in Yeadon, PA, outside Philadelphia.

Elizabeth Garrity was born in the US, but listed her parents as being born in Ireland in the 1900 census. She died around 1909 and her children that were still young were sent to live with different relatives. Two went to a Fitzgerald family in Philadelphia, and my grandfather, Stephen, went to Elizabeth, NJ, to live with a Doyle family.

Anna Marie married a man named Howard Semple in Philadelphia. They had one son, Howard. I know Anna Marie and son Howard were still alive in the late 1950s because they attended my Aunt's wedding.

Edward possibly never married, but he died at the age of 21. His sister, Anna Marie, payed for his burial plot at Holy Cross Cemetery.

Charles married a woman named Katherine Dougherty in Philadelphia, had 2 or 3 children, and died young, possibly as a fireman in the city of Philadelphia. They had at least 2 and possibly 3 children, 2 girls and 1 boy, possible names, Elizabeth, Marie, Charles.

Elizabeth married a man named Thomas Maloney in Philadelphia. My father remembers that they had 7 or 8 children, lived in Maryland possibly on a farm, and were involved in some sort of breeding or competitions with some type of cat.

My grandfather, Stephen, was the child sent to NJ to live when his mother died in 1909. He later met my grandmother, Lillian Norris, and they moved to Ohio, having 4 children from 1936-1938. Stephen died in 1941, leaving my grandmother to raise her children alone. All of the children and most of the grandchildren and great grandchildren still live around Ohio with family names of McEntee, Pisanelli, and Gairing.

If you have any information on other descendants of Patrick McEntee and Elizabeth Garrity, I would love to hear from you. I want to fill in my family history for this branch, and other descendants may hold the key! I can be reached at kjmcente@AOL.com
