Cherokee Indian Douds in Iowa?

I am looking for information about my Dad's side of the family.
My paternal grandfather was Charles Ralph Doud, born in the Keosaqua area. His father was Owen Doud, and his mother was Inez (I think) and I can't remember her maiden name.
I know that somewhere along the line we are directly related to Mamie Doud, President Eisenhowers wife. My grandfathers grandmother was full blooded Cherokee indian. My family knows nothing beyond that. Any help or information about our family would be greatly appreciated.
