Van S(wearington) Doughty, son of Samuel Doty & Margaret, b. 20 Jan 1840 Coles Co, IL d. 20 Feb 1922 Graham, Carter Co, OK m. 29 Nov 1868 Anderson Co, TX Sarah Ann Elizabeth "Bettie" Cook b. 27 Nov 1847 Fayette Co, AL d. 3 Nov 1925 Graham, Carter Co, OK, dau. of Jacob & (1) Ona Adaline.
Van was a PVT in CPT Ferrar's Co, 4th TX CAV, TST (Texas State Troops) & Co B, 10th TX INF, along with his brother, John P., b. 1834-35 Coles Co?, IL d. 21 Jul 1862 Little Rock, AR of illness (while in Co B), who is probably buried in CSA cemetery at Little Rock.
