I agree with everything in your last post except two minor points. The first minor point may be a matter of terminology. I would say that Aretas and Serepta (Doty) Crane are first cousins, not first cousins once removed, as they have the same grandparents, namely Joseph Crane Sr. (1741-1778) and Ruth (Miller) Crane. I note in passing that Daniel C. and Catherine (Crane) Doty are also first cousins because they share the same grandparents as Aretas and Sarepta (Doty) Crane. The second minor point is that the Jacob Crane who traveled with the Dotys to Linn County is likely to be the child of William Bebout Crane and Nancy Potter rather than the child of Joseph Crane Jr. and Sally Bebout, because the Linn County Jacob Crane was described as Daniel C. Doty's nephew. The Jacob Crane who is the son of Joseph Crane Jr. and Sally Bebout would be Daniel C. Doty's brother-in-law. You will note I have switched to "Bebout", because Ethan Allen Doty also uses Bebout and William Bebaut Crane's middle name confirms this choice. I have entered all of these Cranes and Dotys into Familypedia. Here are links to the main names: Joseph Crane Sr. http://genealogy.wikia.com/wiki/Joseph_Crane_%281741-1778%29 Joseph Crane Jr. http://genealogy.wikia.com/wiki/Joseph_Crane_%28c1771-1829%29 Elizabeth (Betsey) Crane http://genealogy.wikia.com/wiki/Elizabeth_Crane_%281771-aft1847%29 Daniel Doty Sr. http://genealogy.wikia.com/wiki/Daniel_Doty_%281765-1848%29 Daniel C. Doty http://genealogy.wikia.com/wiki/Daniel_C._Doty_%281799-1873%29 Aretas Crane http://genealogy.wikia.com/wiki/Aretas_Crane_%28%3F-%3F%29 Serepta Doty http://genealogy.wikia.com/wiki/Sarepta_Doty_%281806-%3F%29 William Bebout Crane http://genealogy.wikia.com/wiki/William_Bebout_Crane_%28%3F-%3F%29 In Familypedia by clicking on any blue name one can link to the page for that person. Thus you should be able to navigate among the several pages I have given you. I believe that we are in agreement on all the main points and that any seeming disagreements were the result of the difficulty of communicating such complicated relationships. However, if you disagree with me on any point, please let me know, and hopefully we will be able to reach agreement, even if it is an agreement that we have insufficient evidence to settle a given issue.
