I'm not going to critique your findings as you have a solid source on which to base your conclusions. I am using "FamilySearch" Ancestral Files and Individual Genealogical Indexes, which are only as accurate as what has been posted (with no source info).

According to FamilySearch, the elder Joseph CRANE had eleven children. The eleventh was Betsy (Elizabeth, I assume), who married Daniel DOTY in 1794. Their daughter was Serepta, who married Aretas CRANE, a first cousin, once removed.

Joseph's sixth child was Joseph, Jr., who FamilySearch says married Sally BEBOUT (not DEBOUT...have no idea which is correct). Their first child, William, married Nancy POTTER (mentioned in your post). Joseph's fourth child is Jacob, who may have been the one to travel with the DOTY's to Linn County. His brother is Aretas CRANE, who married Sarepta DOTY, daughter of Daniel DOTY and Betsy CRANE (mentioned above).

There is one more CRANE/DOTY marriage in that group, that of Catherine CRANE, sister of Aretas, who married a Daniel DOTY (son of a Daniel DOTY). There are too many Daniel DOTY's to keep straight. Does the DOTY/DOTEN book mention a Catherine CRANE married to a DOTY?

I've tried to tie the CRANE/DOTY marriages together with arrows and lines, which is tough to do with a limited keyboard choice.
