Every where I look I see Daniel J. Doty (born about 1798 in Pennsylvania) listed as the son of Samuel Doty. Westmoreland County is mentioned as being where he was born. I did a search in the 1800 census of Pennsylvania and found a Samuel Doty in Derry Township, Westmoreland Co., PA, BUT there is no male child listed in the home in the age range 0-8 years of age.
Is Samuel Doty, father of Daniel J. Doty, hidden under another surname?
