this is out of the Eathen Allen Doty book in 1879
Anthony Doty page 856 no 12685
Anthony Doty, is said to have lived in New Jersey. He m. prob. near Jersey City, N.J.., Mary Hedley, dau; Francis Hedley.
They emigrated to Fayette Co., Pa.. previou7s to 1812 and soon after removed to Rough's Creek or Dotysburg, about 1818, His widow was living, 1824. Anthony Doty was probably born as early as 1756, and married about 1780. He could hardley have escaped being in the Revolutionary War and did not remove west till after it. Greene County, Pa. was formed in 1796, but it is doubiful if he appeared there so early. Dotysburg in the county is only a hamlet, not a post office, and was named after him. Hehad a large farm there, which was divided amoung his children about 1818. and soon after sold by them.
Information of this family comes from Lebbeus C. Weltner of Stewaristown, Monongalla Co., W. Va., who keeps a hotel there and married a daughter of william Doty, and from Greene County, Pa.Records.

1. Anthony said to have married Mary Wade of Greene Co., but the records of 1880 give his wife's name as Rachael; removed to near Cold Spring, Campbell Co., Ky. where he d. 1855; 1 son supposed to be living.

3. John M. Mary Ann Cross of Green Co., removed to Missouri and leaving his family there he went to California, where he d. about 1850. His widow returned to Waynesburg,Pa. and d. there 1858-1859. Letters of Administration on her estate were granted to Thos. Hill. March 4, 1859. 2 dau., both m.., living near Waynesburg..
4. William m. a wife Susan; live Carmichaels, Greene Co., Pa. and have at least 1 dau. m. Lebbeus C. Weltner of Stewartstown, w. Va.
5. Sarah M.--------- Fix she d. before 1823
6. Experienoe, m. Barrick Hoge of Greene Co., Pa removed to Missouri and both d. there about 1846-7:chil.
7. Leah m. before 1818 Samuel House, "the younger."
8. Phebe, not m. d. Waynesburg, before 1824
9. Hannah not m. d. Waynesburg, before 1823
10. Mary, m. about 1826. Joseph Showers: removed to Crawford Co., Ohio. and D. young
