I'm hoping to find someone who is a living male Doty descendant of the subject Azariah Doty, or who has contacts with such a descendant. Below is a link to my database page for Azariah which will let you see what I have learned about him, his ancestors & descendants:

I descend from William Flannery Doty, a documented descendant of Azariah. Interestingly, my William married Nancy C. Doughty / Doty, whose ancestry beyond her father has not been found but who MAY be a cousin of her husband.
As far as I know, there is no documented proof that Azariah's grandfather, John Doty, was a son of Samuel Doty and thus a grandson of Edward Doty, the well-researched Mayflower immigrant. In fact, there is a family legend that John was himself an immigrant to New Jersey by 1703. You can read my compilation of this research (by others, not by me) in my notes for John Doty. You will also see that we have found ONE living proven male Doty descendant of Azariah. Unfortunately, his Y-DNA test results don't sufficiently match those of other proven male Doty descendants of Samuel Doty to indicate that he too is PROBABLY a descendant of Samuel.
If you are in contact with a living male Doty descendant of Azariah, would you please forward this posting to him as I would like to see if he would submit a Y-DNA test kit himself in order to help other Azariah descendants, like me, determine our immigrant ancestry.
