I probably shouldn't follow up my own posts, but this forum doesn't offer any way to edit previous posts. First, in case there is any confusion, the Edward Doty discussed here is the Mayflower passenger. There is also some question about the timelines. According to Samuel Deane in his "History of Scituate, Massachusetts, from Its First Settlement to 1831" the following concerning John Philips was extracted from Colony records: "He deceased 1677: Faith, his widow, administered; and property was assigned in division, to his daughters Desire Sherman, Elizabeth Rouse and Mary Doten". Other sources say Faith was buried 21 Dec 1675 in Marshfield, which would make this timeline impossible. Could this have been the settlement of her estate, rather than his?
