Doty Family Genealogy Forum

I am not related to this family, but I have a typewritten copy of the will of Daniel Doty, dated November 22, 1847. This is on the second page of information about a great, great uncle of mine, DeWitt Clinton Orr, who also lived in Middletown. I will send you a copy of this sheet, or enter it in the forum if you are interested. I do not have the entire copy, but probably most of it.
One of the children mentioned is his son, Joseph Doty, who married Mary Vail, daughter of Samuel Vail, brother of Stephen Vail, who laid out Middletown. This son and a sister Huldah wee to share "the 162 acres which was the land Doty owned in Section 21, and they were to divide this land equally north and south so as to suit their improvements."
On further pages which I do not have, there could possibly be a mention of Joseph's children. These sheets were from something called the Middletown Diary 173, page 221.
I entered information recently on a Francis Doughty in early Virginia; same family?
