Dotsons in West Virginia

I believe that my paternal grandmother was of this line. Her name was Clara Dodson (I know it was spelled Dotson in her obituary.) She was born in 1895, and died between Christmas 1935 and New Year's Day 1836. She married Joe Ashworth, and they lived in McDowell County West Virginia. My father was seven years old at the time of her death, and if I read the LDS records correctly, her father's name was Christopher Columbus Dodson. Anyone who ever spoke of him to me called him "Grandad" Dodson. I believe he was missing much of his arm.
The date of 1870 would be very close, as I believe my grandmother was the oldest of their children. Recently, some pictures have come into my posession, and I know that some of them are of Dodsons. My dilema, is that which ever of these pictures contains a Dodson, seems to be unrecognizable to anyone on this end. I need help.I also remember, that during my VietNam Era,I was stationed in Long Beach , California. While I was there, I met the widow and children of a Jim or James Dodson. His widow, Maggie, and family who lived in Orange County, Califonia were exeptionally kind to me. I believe that there was a son James, and daughters Alice and Ann. If any of this sounds familiar, please write me at [email protected]. I simply want some help identifying these ancestors while someone who can help me might still be alive.
Doug
