William Dawes & Paul Revere historic rid

After reading last night I found that Paul Revere (made famous from Henry Wadsworth Longfellow's poem) had two other riding partners in his historic "The British are coming" ride, William Dawes & Dr. Samuel. After getting on the net I found the information about the two other riders is quite common. I must be the only one out there that did not know this. Anyway I looked up William Dawes on the Dawes gen forum and found there is quite a lot of genealogy info. on the Dawes family all the way back to England.

I understand from over the last three years that everyone (The Doss's) assumes the early Doss's probably were a different spelling than Doss, such as Dawes, Dass, Dawson,etc... Is there any Doss connection?

Has any of the early Doss's turn up around Paul Revere's area and time? As it turns out Dr. Samuel was the only one of the three riders to finish the ride. Paul Revere ended up afoot and Mr. Dawes got lost.
