Hi Shelby,
I searched the databases for your John T. Doss but didn't find him. My data for Oklahoma is pretty much non-existent and Arkansas isn't a lot better. I live in Maine, so my access to data for those states is very limited. Have you checked the census records? If you have a birth year and state for John then I could probably find him as a child with his parents -- or at least narrow the field.
I see you were interested in this old note about Hugh F. Doss. The first Hugh went to California during the gold rush and stayed there, I believe. His brother Ambrose returned to Missouri, and later had a son named Hugh F. Doss, but Ambrose had his family late in life and they are too late to be yours -- and no John among them.
