Peggy I believe your Mary Doss who married Israel Chambers is a sister to my gg grandmother Nancy S. Doss b. 1 Nov 1831 in Alabama, who m. Wiley W. Fowler 30 Oct 1848 in Bibb Co., AL. She died and is buried in Perry Co., AL in 1880. Another sister was Sara Doss b. 19 Aug 1828 and m. Wm. James Leach in Bibb Co. 16 Aug 1845, died 21 Oct 1862 and is bur. in Mt. Carmel Cemetery in Sabine Parish, LA. These 3 girls had a bro. George W. Doss b. 1836 and a half bro. Isaac Hopkins Seales b. 1848. Both boys born in Bibb or Perry Co., AL. Parents of the Doss children were Jane Jameston and John Doss. John died before the 1840 census when Jane was head of the family as Jane Doss with ages of all the Doss children I have named above matching the census. The Jane Jameston and John Doss as parents was passed down in my family oral history. Jane was born in KY or TN in 1805. I am not certain of John's lineage, but believe he perhaps came from Livingston Co., KY before AL and perhaps from Wilkes Co., GA before that. Jane's father was Isaac Jameston b. TN in 1780. Jane lived near all three girls in Bibb and Perry Co. until Sarah left for LA, and George W. Doss was in the next dwelling to her on the 1860 census, Pinetucky Beat, dw. 117 & 118. Jane had married John C. Vedle by 1860. She was still living in 1870. She was m. to Thomas Seales on the 1850. Which of Mary's children did you descend from?
