Doss family in Lincoln and Boyle Co. Ky.

I am looking for the family of Thomas Doss who was in Anderson Co Ky in 1840 and in Lincoln Co Ky in 1850. He was born in Virginia in 1794 and died in 1856 in Lincoln Co. His wife was Frances, but I do not know her maiden name. Some say she was Cherokee, but this is not proven. Most of his sons served in the Union Army during the Civil War and settled in Boyle Co afterwards. Does anyone know who his parents might be?
