Well it looks like Bety and I are Thurman descendants regardless! The Thurmans were in the Upper Cumberland very early. My great great aunt Martha Gates married Frank Thurman of Celina, TN. I like the theory of Ambrose Doss and Sarah Thurman. My limited knowledge of Upper Cumberland familes suggests that ambrose is not a common name so this is probably more than coincidental. Do you know if the name "Riley" has any sort of connection to the Cumberland County KY Doss familes?
