Hello,

Do you have any links to sites that are good for searching for Civil War information?

My GGGrandfather was James "Jim or Pepper Jim" Doss. It is my understanding he was a Union soldier. this is the information that I have for him:

Military Service: Civil War Veteran

Enlisted, October 14, 1861

Co. H, 1st Regt., KY Cavalry volunteers

Commanding officer was Col. Frank Wolford

Discharged, December 31, 1864

My Doss lineage is:

William and Nancy Brown Doss, William born in Buckingham Co. VA, died in Fentress Co, TN
Fanny Doss – Do not know if she was married. Jim’s “story”: He was related to the Hatfield’s (and McCoys) but for his protection was raised using his mother’s maiden name.)
James “Jim or Pepper Jim” and Lavina Morris Doss
Fountain Fox and Evaline Brummett Doss
Edwin and Amelia Irene Thornton Doss
Walter Sherman and Doratha/Dortha/Dorothy Vernon Doss Lowe
Bobby Gene and Betty Jean Lowe Hatter

You may reply to me at this site or to bhatter@dcr.net.
