My ancestor Michael married in 1772 in Lancaster PA, and had his first 4 children there. He relocated to Windsor Twp in York County around 1779. He owned a fairly large property adjacent to Gen Jacob Dritt and next to land owned by George Dosch (of Lancaster.) Michael's daughter married an Adam Shenberger. When Michael died in 1799 (without a will), Adam petitioned for a plot of land Micahel apparently owned in Baltimore County. We cannot yet find out if Michael was born in Germany, or was the child of an earlier immigrant. Also, because of the German naming traditions, we don't know waht his "sprirtual" name was. Probably Johann or Hans, but these were often dropped in daily use, and eventually disappeared. It seems they often weren't even used in church or tax records.
