Was William Dorwin the brother of Amos Dorwin (b. September 24, 1783 in Lanesborough, MA) and/or Hannah Dorwin (b. June 18, 1781 in Vermont)?
The reason I ask is that according to the Colton Genealogy (Quartermaster George Colton, pp 68 & 151-154), Amos Dorwin married Clara Colton (b. August 23, 1787) on November 7, 1804, in Lanesborough, MA, and had eight children, all born in Champion, NY.Hannah Dorwin married William Colton (b. June 3, 1785) in 1807 and in 1808/09 were among the first families to settle in Champion, NY. where they had 12 children.
It would be helpful to connect Hannah and Amos to the wider Dorwin family through William, especially given this double connection of Dorwins and Coltons. Also, coming from the Dorwin side I might be able to obtain some missing information and primary resources about Jonathan Colton, the father of Clara and William.
It's interesting that William Dorwin’s first wife should be buried in Champion. Did William Dorwin move to Champion to join his older brother and sister? Thanks for whatever information you can provide!
