Leonard P DORSEY is with Gustavus Y and Frances in the 1850, 1860, and 1870 censuses.I am pretty certain (>90%) his grandparents were Leonard P DORSEY and Priscilla ROBERTS.
Leonard P DORSEY was born bet 1776 and 1784. He is in the 1810 census of Calvert Co., MD, 1820 Census of Mason Co., KY, the 1830 census of Monroe Co., IND and his widow Priscilla is in the 1840 census of Floyd Co., IND (New Albany). Also tied in is Prindowell M DORSEY, he was born 1795 in Calvert Co MD died in Knox Co., IL. he is in the 1820 census of Calvert Co., MD, 1830 census of Monroe Co., IND (next to Leonard P), was the first mayor of New Albany IND, served in IND legislature in the 1830s.
Prindowell is a Calvert Co MD surname. back in 1730s John Dorsey was appraiser of estate of John Prindowell. It appears that John Prindowell may have been the father of Leonard Prindowell (who witnessed a deed in 1750s). I would guess that the father of Leonard P Dorsey is one of the sons of James and Mary DORSEY and his mother was a Prindowell (but an 1882 fire destroyed most Calvert Co records).also on 7 Jan 1807 Leonard P. Dossey conveys to James Dossey of John land on Parkers Creek (Calvert Co., MD) devised to Leonard P. Dossey by the will of Sarah LaCompte of Dorchester Co. 118 Acres. (Spellings of Dossey and Dorsey were used interchangeable from 1670s to 1830)
