A biography of Arthur C. Dorr is included in "Montana, Its Story and Biography", Vol 3, pages 873 & 874. The Dorr family was established in the US by Gustave Dorr, who at age 21 came from Frankfurt-on-Main to Minnesota. He is buried in Pleasant Grove, MN. His first wife and mother of his children was a Mrs. Reeder.
Arthur was born, 2 Jun 1875, son of Edwin and Emma (Russell) Dorr. Edwin was born in PA before the Civil War, moved to Illinois & then to Minnesota. He married Miss Emma Russell in Olmsted county, MN, and later moved to Eugene, OR.
Arthur C. Dorr was educated in MN, lived on a farm, and helped in his father's store. At age 21, he became an employee of the State Insane Hospital in Rochester, MN, for four years. For the next seven years he was steward of the Hastings State Hospital in Minnesota. He then worked for three years for the Minnesota State Board of Control for inspection of institutions; for 2-1/2 years, assistant superintendent of the training school at Red Wing, MN. In Jun 1914, he was called to the superintendency of the Industrial School of Montana (Reform School) at Miles City.
On 17 Apr 1899, Rochester, MN, Arthur married Miss Louisa Pederson, daughter of H.O. Pederson, a blacksmith and early settler at Rochester, MN. Dorr children: Alice, Mildred, Elsie.
