Also looking for a Carl Dorman, but mine born in MO. My Carl's father was George M. Dorman b. Feb. 8, 1844 in KY/MD.

George M. Dorman's father was Philip Dorman b. in MD, d. during the Civil War in Alton, Ill. Philip Dorman's wife and children were in and around Des Moines, IA (Charleston?)
where his wife, Sophia Dorman collected his pension.

I know there were quite a few Dorman's in Maryland but I have been unable to make a connection back to them for sure. I think I have a Major or Mason Dorman as father to Philip but can't quite be sure.

Do you think there is any connection between these two families? Could they have been cousins perhaps? Brothers who named their children after each other?

I didn't put any dates in because I don't have my papers here with me and I didn't want to guess. There are also siblings to George and Carl but again I don't have them at hand.

Let me know what you think,
Kathleen in KCK
