Jerry,
My maiden name is Dorminey and my family has been in Ga. for generations and still is in Ga. I have often wondered if possibily Dorman may be a variation of Dorminey (Dorminy) or vice versa. From what research I have the Dorminey name has evolved over the last two to three hundred years. Our family name did originate in Germany and the evolution has been a major one. The name has evolved from Durnermubhor to Daminig to Dominick to Dominy (Dominey) to Dorminey (Dorminy). I have seen it spelled Dormini and Dormany. However I just wonder if over the years someway the Dorman name and Dorminey may have been variations of each other. I know this doesn't answer your question but it makes me feel better just to share my thoughts with someone. Do you think there could be some connection here?
