Judy, this is interesting. I wonder if the information you have shows that Mitchell Dorman (the son) is the father of Ebenezer Mitchell (E.M.) Dorman, born 18 Mar 1821 in North Carolina? The common names through three generations is almost too much of a coincidence for them not to be related.

I realize you have a lot of information to review and organize, but keep E.M. in mind please.
