James, Thank you so very much for the reply. Regarding Mary "Olive," someone had given her as "Mary Olive Dorman" and I assumed it was a middle name. They could very well have meant it to be a maiden name and I took it wrong. I also appreciate the clarification on Delilah (is there no shame :-) because I wondered if she might be a daughter-in-law instead of a daughter. That explains her bantering back and forth with Mr. Dancy in court, also. There is another bug I'd like to put in someone's ear and that is the Fort family. I have seen files online where Cullen Dorman is said to have married a woman with the maiden name of "Fort." Church records in Warren County show Cullen, Rosinda and Ann Dorman as members of Long Creek Church. Rosinda was received by letter and Ann was received by baptism. Here is the record: MINUTES OF LONG CREEK BAPTIST CHURCH WARREN COUNTY, GA 1786-1828 Page 58: List of members from Aug. 1799 and continued until October 1819 #92 Cullers Dorman Received by letter dismist Page 62: List of female members from Aug. 1799 and continued until October 1819 #78 Rosinda Dorman Received by letter Dismist #102 Ann Dorman Received by baptism Dismist What I was wondering was if either Rosinda or Ann could have been the woman whose maiden name was Fort. Cullen was unsuccessful in his attempt to join this church but later played an important part in a church in Twiggs County. In the 1830 Twiggs County, GA census, Allen Dorman is living next door to an Arthur Fort. It appears that there is a young couple with children living in this house with an older parent or person (male, age 80-90). Could these be Fort relatives of Cullen's wife? Discussion welcome on these Dorman families. Judy K in Newnan, GA Notify Administrator about this message?
