My great-great-great grandmother was Mary Doris of Co. Longford who married Terence Tully around 1790. The Tullys and probably the Dorises were very likely in the Ballinamuck area then and for years afterwards. If anyone has any independent information about the Doris/Tully connection, please let me know.
I have seen the name Heslin in these pages as well. There is some connection between a Heslin family and the Tullys in the NYC area going back to around the 1880's. At that time, my great-uncle Joe Tully received postcards from the Heslin girls who were writing to their "cousin Joe." The Heslins appear to have disappeared after this.
James Patrick Doris married my third cousin Joan Cullen (a Tully descendant) around 1940. James' father was Patrick Doris. If anyone has a connection with THIS Doris family please let me know. I would like to see if the two Doris families are biologically related. Thank you very much.
I cannot help any of you directly at this point---all I know about either the Doris or Heslin families I just wrote.
