Hello to all you Dorgans out there. I am the project manager for a program to test DNA for people named Durgan/Durgin/Durkin/Dirgin/Dorgan/Durcan, etc., etc., and so on. We are conducting this test to establish whether we have a single common ancestor somewhere in England or Ireland. The laboratory doing the testing is Family Tree DNA of Houston, Texas. They will send a kit which includes swabs and chemicals to preserve the DNA while in transit. What they test are markers on male "Y"-chromosones. If 11 of 12 or 12 of 12 markers line up, then it is considered that any two males with these same markers are descended from a common ancestor. Since the "Y"-chromosone is only passed from father to son, only males can take the tests. The cost for the test is nominal ($99 for the test & $2 for mailing). Since surnames tend to get corrupted for various reasons (time, language, etc.) We feel that it's possible we all come from the same stock. Would you like to join us and, perhaps find new cousins? Contact Dick Durgin at res0kv1i@verizon.net. Hope to hear from many of you. Notify Administrator about this message?
