Donna, do you have your grandfather or great grandfather's names and where they lived?
There is a fair chance you are a descendant of Richard Door, who appears in Portsmouth NH about 1670. Many of his descendants stayed in New Hampshire and Maine, changing the spelling of the family name to Dore, Dorr, and Doore.
Of course there are other sources for these names, including France, Ireland and Germany.
