Dave, It would appear that there is a relationship between our families. My family tree is as follows: Great Grandparents Maurice Dore & Mary Biggane, both born circa 1830; married circa 1860. They resided on the family farm in Ballycluvane, Monagay parish, Newcastle West, Co. Limeick. Children of Maurice Dore & Mary Biggane: John Dore, appears to be your relation James Dore, b, Jan 1862 Edmond Dore, b, Dec 1862, Ellen Dore (curtin) b, mar 1864 Michael Dore, b, 1866 Bridget Dore, b, 1868 Maurice Dore b, Jun 1870 Johanna Dore, b Jun 1871 Robert Dore, b, Jan 1873 Mary E Dore (Mullane) b, circa 1880, d, June 07, 1913 (see Mary (Mullarkey) Wentzell) Francis Dore, b, Sept 1876 - my Grandfather William Dore, b, Mar 1880 My Gandparents: Francis (Frank) Dore & Lena Dwyer lived in Newcastle West Their children: Maurice, (my father), Mary, Ann, Tess, Bridget. My Parents Maurice Dore & Mai Boland. My father died on the July 19th last year at the age of 84, my mother lives in Lismore, Co Waterford. Their children. Helen, Frances (me), Richard, and Miriam. Helen has 1 son Richard Duncan and live in Lancashire. Richard has 3 daughters Sarah, Lisa, Jennifer and lives in Carrigaline, Co. Cork. Miriam has 2 children, Caroline & Graham and lives in Dublin. I live in Cork and have 1 daughter Emma who is studying Veterinary medicine in Dublin. My father often wondered about the families of his Uncles and Aunts who went to America. Most of his Aunts & Uncles went to America but because of the age different my Gandfather was a very young child when the older ones emigrated. Only 3 of Maurice Dore & Mary Biggane's family remained in Ireland. Maurice, Bridget and Francis. 1 of the siblings died young, I think William but I'm not sure. Maurice maried and lived on the family farm, he had 3 children: Mossie - still alive in his 80's and currently selling the family farm (not married). Jim - was a police officer, never married and died a few years ago. Micky - worked on the farm, never married and died a few years ago. Mary married a local farmer, no childen, she is in her 80's and lives in Newcaslte West. Bridget never married and lived with Maurice and his family until her death. Francis (Frank) my grandfather died when I was young child but I have good memories of him. Two of my aunts are still alive. My father Maurice, who was a police officer had a great love of learning and a passion for books. On his retirment he spent 15 years going to college studying a very diverse range of subjects over the years. He was an extremely intellegent man who was continuosly improving his mind and had a wonderful influence on our lives. He was also a keen spotsman, who played inter county hurling and football. I believe that in his youth he was keen boxer and played a wide range of sports. He retained his strong interst in sport up to his death. The Dores, over the years were known for their bright minds and strong love of books. Have any of your family that book loving gene. Frances. Notify Administrator about this message?
