I am married to Virginia Dore whose family is from New Haven Connecticut. We live in Braintree Massachusetts which is where she moved with her father Harold and mother Grace (Grenier). Ginny has one older sister Eileen living in Daphne Alabama outside of Mobile. Harold was the youngest of three boys--Vincent, James, and Harold. Vincent was a Catholic priest and became President and Chancellor of Providence College. Their father was John Dore who emigrated from Newcastle West in about 1895 with another local friend. We visited Ireland last year and drove around the vicinity but didn't contact anyone. It is on the road from Limerick to Killarney and the phone books there are full of Dores. The story I heard is that the name is from the Gaelic word doghair (pronounces kind of like dower) and means sad. It seems that there may be some relationship between Ginny and yourself. She was born in 1947, Eileen in 1941, Harold died in 1999 at the age of 89. He was a terrific guy although a Yankee fan to the end. James had four daughters who originally lived near New Haven. Some now are in Florida. Our oldest son is Michael Dore Sarney. I'll watch for any replies and would appreciate knowing more about your family. Dave
