Dore, James 1859 PA

I was told that my immigrant ancestor (ca. 1850) changed his name from Dore to O'Dore to fit in to an Irish community. I finally met an O'Dore that I'm not related to, only to learn that his ancestry is Italian. His immigrant ancestor was Odore, pronounced o-DOR-a. At the port his name was "Americanized" to O'Dore!

In 1850, which counties in Ireland include "Dore"s?

It's also possible that he was a Welsh coal miner.

Any suggestions to find his place of origin?
