It is interesting that you mention the change from Dower to Dore. I am currently researching James Dower/Dore from NZ. I am having difficulty finding his date of birth. A professional genealogist in NZ has contacted his agent in Dublin who has made the connection between Dower and Dore. It appears to be Dower in NZ and Dore in Ireland.
