I have a Dora family I am researching. Family letters and such state that before they came to Kentucky 1795, that the name was Dore and they were from the Somerset area of Maryland and before 1740 Berkshire England.
I can find Dory and Dorey in Somerset and Worcester on a few records for my family but can not find anything on all of them. John Dore sr. married a Tillman 1750 in Maryland, had five sons John, Benjamin Tobney/Tabney and Ferdinand born in 1758. records after Ferdinand left in 1795. Ferdinand shows up in KY 1795, his nephew from MD shows up in 1812.
