Mary Dornan:1888: aged 4: Sent to Canada from Liverpool via Ire.as a home child
There were over a 100,000 poor and orphaned children sent to Canada in the late 1800s
Mary Doran was one: a ward of the Liverpool Catholic Childrens Protection Society
We have no idea who her family might be:
We do know her ship the Circassian also stopped in Londonderry....and Marys name appears on the manifest after this stop:.....so she might well be from Ireland
If anyone runs across a Mary born around this time during their searches: who isnt accounted for in later events:
Would be pleased to know of any possible family links: to find out why she ended up in care........
