Hello Sandra I came across your posting by accident, researching details about my grandfather Joseph Morrison Doran 1875-1954 born in Belfast and then an artist and textile designer in London England. He died long before I was born, but I have some letters and canvases left by my father when he died a few years ago. This includes some basic family tree information. Joseph Morrison Doran had four brothers and two sisters, the eldest of whom was Susan Moffat Doran 1874-1956; there is also a Helen Wallace Doran 1876-1963, and I have letters from Aunt Helen and Aunt Susy (who was too poorly to write herself)dated 1954 congratulating my parents on their wedding. The letters from Helen are addressed from 6 Wolseley Street Belfast. Joseph, Helen & Susy's parrents are listed on my family tree as Joseph Orr Doran - a 'Tea Merchant' of Belfast, and his wife Susannah Morrison. Joseph Orr Doran is one of several children of one William Doran 'Farmer of Ireland' and his wife Elizabeth Orr; there are no dates about these generations, but the children of William Doran are listed as being in various parts of the USA or County Tyrone Ireland Farmers, except for Joseph Orr Doran in Belfast. My family is based on the Isle of Wight just off the south coast of England, having been brought up in the County of Hampshire - between here and London. The only Doran family relatives we are in touch with are the South African decendants of James Bowler Doran 1880-1962, a pharmacist of Aliwal North South Africa, who was a brother to Joseph Morrison and Susan Moffat Doran. Looks like we have found a connection! Best wishes and greetings from a cousin(?)! Richard John Morrison Doran Notify Administrator about this message?
