Dear Tom,

Margaret Emigh who married John (Johannes) Dopp is not likely the Margaret who married John Dopp the father of John Bastion Dopp.

John Bastion Dopp was born in Strasburg, Germany and immigrated to this country with his father.

John (Johannes) Dopp was born in 1742 in Dutchess County, NY. His father, Johann Pieter Dopp was born in West Camp, NY in 1718. His father was Johannes (Hans Pieter) Dopp who came to this country with his father.

John and Margaret had several children, all born in or near Red Hook, Fish Kill, Brunswick in Dutchess Co, NY.

The Dopps and Emighs were part of the Palatinate Migration of 1709-1710 who arrived on Long Island in 1710. They ultimately moved upstate and settled along the Mohawk Valley and the shores of Lake Ontario.

Hope this info helps.

Dave Dopp
