James Madison Doom is my husband's ancestor. His wife was Sarah Ewing Nourse. The Nourse family gave the land where Washington National Cathederal stands today in DC. I have a lot of info on the Nourse family as I did research in DC in November. The Colonel Dames Headquarters is in the old Nourse home. James M. Doom is said to have been of Holland Dutch descent and was a wealthy manufacturer at the outbreak of the Civil War owning a tannery, sawmill and stone quarries. I am happy to share info. Ann
