Dear Patricia,
Here is some follow up. I have spent all day on this. You might find it interesting.
Here is some stuff I have pieced together.
My great, great grandfather (don't have his first name) had (we believe) six children, John, Denis,William (?), Hannah (who married Denis Stack (of Stagmount), Abbey (?) and Mary (?). I believe Abbey and Mary were sisters, and William a brother of my grandfather John because they are sponsors of my grandfather's children Mary and Julia and William.
My great grandfather was John Doody.I don't know where or when he was born.I do know that he married Johannah Dennehy, with whom he fathered William (1874), Bridget (1875), Julia (called Bella) (1878) (d.1960), Denis (1879) (d. 1931, my grandfather),Mary (1884), Jeremiah (1887).
My great grandfather's brother Denis, (my great grand uncle), married four times to Nora Sullivan, Mary Sullivan, Mary Murphy and ? Curtin. This is deduced from some church records which show that Eliza Dennehy (sister of my great grandmother Johanna Dennehy) is the godmother of Johanna's son (my great gandfather's son) William and is also the godmother of Margaret Doody, daughter of my great granduncle Denis and Nora Sullivan (At this point Eliza is married and her name is Eliza Barry.) Also Denis Doody, my great grand uncle is godfather to my grandfather Denis.
Theplace this all happened is the Parish of Meelin and Rockchapel, Co. Cork, Ireland.Diocese of Cloyne.
Would love to hear back from you.
Michael J. Doody, S.J.
