My closest Doody's came from 1890-1895 in fits and starts, but they came direct to Boston from Mallow/Tullig, departing from Queenstown, Cobh, Co. Cork. Do you know for sure Ellis Island is where your Denis came in?I have also seen some of mine spelled, at least temporarily, as Duddy. I found Naturalization papers helped a lot in making the link to Ireland... Since I was looking then for my grandmother, and women weren't naturalized, I had to find one of her brothers who had been naturalized. Did your Denis settle in MA?I am still chasing MA descendants of Irish parents Michael Doody and Catherine Kelliher - have two sons Jeremiah and James, but there have to be others...Good luck and have a great trip - the local churches vary in their willingness to help, but I had good luck at the National Library Archives in Dublin. (Though it's a shame to spend vacation in a dusty library!)
