Excuse me for being tardy in replying to your message. I don't think there is a close connection with this Patrick Doody, even though the time range is about right. My grandfather's father, Patrick Doody, according to what I now know, was in Ireland, preparing to leave for Liverpool to take a cargo to Baltimore, when he suddenly died. The Patrick you found involved in the Civil War seems out of the question. But he had quite a history of his own!
