Paula - a bit more information - my Great Great grandfather was Patrick DOODY, his daughter JOHANNA married Maurice Roche and they were my nan's parents. They were all from Knockbrack, Abbeyfeale. They lived at property number 20 - don't know if the roads were named in those days. Just found this.
Are you flying into Birmingham Airport, if so it is only 20 minutes from where I live. I found the farm you are visiting, that is about 35 mintues from where we live.
If you type Blackgreaves Farm, Lea Marston, Warwickshire into Google you will see it.
Also the Ryburn Valley in South Yorkshire is made up of two reservoirs - very pretty area.
One of my nan's sister's took off to USA - thought her name was Mary but not sure about that as the name Mary does not appear on the 1901 Census. Another sister married a Joyce, as in James Joyce, Irish author. They had three children but their mother died - a girl who went to USA and is a judge - no details about her, sorry - then Maurice lived in Worcestershire UK, now deceased and Patrick who was brought up by my nan, lived in Yorkshire and sadly his no longer with us. Don't know who was their mother, Hannie or Ellen.
So the DOODY's are definitely in the family in the Abbeyfeale area!
Look forward to hearing from you.
